Stairway from HellThis picture was taken in one of the the most hectic places I have ever visited: Accra, Ghana. As we were walking through the streets carrying our backpacking gear, we came across a very wide building with spiraling staircases that included various local shops. However, since we were tourists, all of the local vendors looked down at us and mistook our curiosity for some other sinister intentions. In the photograph, I tried to capture the craziness that ensued that day and how that staircase basically summed up the capital of Ghana: which was full of extreme economic disparity, alienation to strangers and overpopulation. Even though I disliked the capital, the rest of the country showed me that true happiness could be achieved through a change in our mindsets. It was the country that has impacted me the most positively and negatively during all my travels. by: Adolfo Kahan Farca |
