Tirza at 100
I traveled 7,500 miles this May to celebrate what can only be described as the 'milestone of a lifetime.' My grandmother turned 100 years old in the Israeli city of Tel Yosef, where she still lives on the communal-style 'kibbutz' dairy farm. I captured this image right as she laid eyes on her youngest son, my father, after over ten years apart. The pure joy and life in her eyes is something I can only hope to still have when I approach old age. We joke that she will outlive the rest of the family, but her vigor rivals those much younger than her. She is the most amazing woman I know, and I can only hope to be anything like this incredible woman at 100 years old. Happy birthday, Savta.
